Mr. and Mr. Smith by HelenKay Dimon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I read this entertaining, suspenseful, M/M spy romance all in one night, because I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next.
Fisher and Zach were super cool action heroes. The sex scenes may have been hot, rough, and dirty, but they weren’t without meaning. The thrilling action scenes included gunfights, explosions, and stealthy rescue missions. I had no problem with the novel taking place within twenty-four hours, give or take. I liked the novel’s fast pace and the life-or-death plotlines, which heightened the stakes for the men’s relationship.
I understood why Fisher felt like Zach had betrayed him, felt conflicted about his feelings, and had a hard time forgiving Zach, but I also understood why Zach believed he had to lie in order to protect Fisher. I thought that Zach totally made up for his secrecy and perceived betrayal in the end. These guys were so connected that even though they were angry and distrustful they still cared and couldn’t bear to lose, or live without, each other.
I also liked Fisher’s team a lot, because they were so funny and had each other’s backs. I didn’t like Zach’s team and contacts as much, however, so I’m not sure if I’ll read the next novel in this series. I’m definitely interested in reading more about Fisher, Zach, and their special ops team. I truly enjoyed their story, and would love to go on more adventures with them.
MR. AND MR. SMITH was an easy read and a fun escape.
